How to assign managed metadata automatically in SharePoint

The Knowledge Management Suite for SharePoint encourage knowledge workers to take advantage of the SharePoint Collaborative Knowledge Management and Social Networking features by making it as easy as possible to manage taxonomy terms, to auto-classify content and to use assigned metadata for knowledge browsing, navigation, content discovery and search.

You can automatically categorize SharePoint content using the Auto Tagger feature of the Layer2 Knowledge Management Suite for SharePoint. The feature can be configured very flexible to fulfill different requirements using scopes and configuration items. Managed metadata is automatically assigned by flexible timer jobs running in backround. Alternatively you can use library-based bulk-tagging or real-time tagging to assign managed metadata automatically during document upload or change.

SharePoint Auto Tagger Scopes - Sample Configurations

In the following screens sample configurations for Auto Tagger scopes are shown. You can add several scopes to an Auto Tagger configuration item to include and exclude sites, lists and libraries, columns and content types in / from auto-categorization.
